The Benefits of Creating an Internal Blog for Your Business
What is an internal blog? Aren’t all blogs created equal? Nope, an internal blog is especially for the members of your organization to blog on - it’s not for the general public. It will provide many benefits. Not only is it an excellent way to share information, but also it gives members the chance to ‘meet’ and get to know each other, that they would not otherwise have. And who wouldn’t be delighted in the chance to take a few minutes out of the busy schedule to go blogging. And not have to worry about the boss catching them at it!
So an internal blog will enhance communication within your organization and make sure all members get the same information without you having to send it out to umpteen places. This will be a big saving of your important time. A blog will encourage even the quietest, shyest member of your organization to have their say, because all they need to do is type it in. This will build their confidence, so that they will then feel better about speaking up in other situations. You could say blogging would be a form of personal development for those people.
Internal blogging is a quick and easy way for your team to collaborate with each other. No setting up meeting at times that never seems to suit everyone. No need for staff to stay back after work for special informational meetings. Everyone can do their blog thing and remain fully informed, without having to rush from A to B and back again.
All the staff can easily access key documents. This will save on handing out numerous printed copies and then finding they’ve been left at home when they are needed. Information collected during a project can be easily stored and everyone knows where to find it. The results of any project can by disseminated and stored easily on a blog.
Blogs are great for either short term or longer-term projects. If appropriate, the blog can be specific to the members of a team doing one small project between them. They can be for the members of one part of the company, or they can encompass the whole corporation. Some blogs, e.g. for the product development team, can be opened to outside participants, thus creating a larger team to help with marketing.
An internal blog will have so many benefits for your company that you’ll wonder why you didn’t think of it before. You can even invite everyone to the Christmas party by means of your internal blog!
