How to Create a Typepad Blog

If you don’t have a blog yet, getting one will move your business into the new millennium, keeping you abreast or ahead of your competitors. Everyone is hitching their wagons to the blogging star, so you might as well do the same or you’ll be left languishing in the past. Feeling confused at your options? Creating a blog with Typepad is very easy.

Firstly go to the Typepad.com website and have a look around. You’ll see that there are several options for blogging, so you need to look at each one carefully to decide which is right for you. In fact you could use the free trial option for two weeks just to try it out.

The options go from basic, which is the cheapest, up to Plus and Pro and Premium levels, all with different features and added space for each level. Premium is the most expensive with $29.95 per month. For this you get twice the bandwidth and three times the storage of Pro level, which is $14.95 per month. The Plus level price drops to $8.95 per month while basic is only $4.95 per month. Business class is different again with custom pricing tailored to suit your needs.

Typepad offer templates for you to choose from, or you can design your own using Typepad’s template builder if you prefer. You don’t have to worry about knowing HTML as Typepad has WYSIWYG editor. That means What You See is What You Get, so you type in what you want and that’s all there is to it. The code is done automatically.

If you have a website somewhere else, you can point your Typepad blog to it if you choose one of the three top-level options. RSS feeds are taken care of too. You don’t have to build your own.

Once you’ve looked around Typepad and decided which option you will have, you need to click on the Start Now button - or the Free Trial Button if that is what you want. Fill in all the requirements to create your account. You will need to decide what your blog address will be so that you can type it into the relevant box.

If you’ve read anything much about blogs, you’ll know that it is best to have your own URL, so that there is no other name on it. This option is catered for with Typepad, but you must go ahead and register first. Make sure you read the Terms of Service and then tick the box saying you agree with them.
